Peanut and I made play dough the other day and thought I would share the recipe. It is super easy to make, inexpensive, and the consistency is far better than the crap stuff you can buy in stores. I am already sick of making a plethora of hot dogs and hamburgers for his bbq grills (yeah you read that right, plural, as in two grills), but it keeps him occupied for a good five minutes :)

Play Dough

1 cup flour

1/2 cup salt

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 cup water

2 Tablespoons oil

1 teaspoon food coloring

Combine the flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a large saucepan. In a separate bowl combine water, oil, and food coloring. Add oil and water mixture to dry ingredients in saucepan. Cook over medium to high heat stirring constantly until a ball forms (or your arm falls off). Remove from heat and cool on wax paper. Knead until smooth and store in an airtight container or ziploc bag.

Haha! I remember the hours of rolling out snake shapes for Sage to promptly smoosh back into lumps and ask me to roll out again. He doesn’t remember any of it though, LOL!
