Peanut Uses the Potty!

Early last week I threw out the potty chairs I had bought for Peanut and took him to the local big box store so he could pick out one of his own. He did and promptly covered it with stickers and has been using it as his chair throughout the house. I figure that is a good thing in the sense that he feels it is his own and is at least getting comfortable with sitting on it.

Peanut used the potty chair for the first time Saturday! We were watching t.v. and he asked me, “Where do Mommies go when Kids use the potty?” I told him, “Mommies can stay with the Kid or the Kid can have some privacy and do it by themselves.” I asked him if he would like to use the potty and he said yes. He took his potty chair out of the living room and went into the hall bathroom and closed the door. And locked it. After what seemed to be an eternity with Slack and I trying to act cool and nonchalant, Peanut comes out of the bathroom and simultaneously shy and triumphant announced, “I went to the bathroom!”

Sure enough, he had gone to the bathroom in his potty chair, emptied and flushed his waste away in the toilet, and pulled his pants on and off by himself! WOOHOO!!!! Oh, the excitement in our house-LOL!! He also used the potty all day Sunday with no accidents.

Of course, this is typical Peanut behavior. He waited until the point of both Mom and Dad seriously wondering if he would ever walk. And then, one day decides to walk. Not just one step or two the very first time, but down the hallway and maneuver a corner.
