10 Years

Today Slack and I are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. As he would say, “10 years, 5 happy ones”, hahahaha. I love him to pieces and cannot believe we have been together for as long as we have and married for part of that time as well. I look back and think, HOLY CRAP!!, I met him when I was 17!!! Just out of high school I met him at a get-together at his apartment through a friend. He was very nice and intelligent. Oh yeah, he was drunk and playing a guitar, too. You can’t say all the signs weren’t there . I look back and pray that Peanut does not choose his life mate as we did. We are such polar opposites and so young when we met and moved in together shortly thereafter. We are lucky, very very lucky. It could have turned out so differently for us and our relationship. I do not regret being with Slack and choosing to live this crazy life with him.

So, Slack, THANK YOU for:

1. Putting up with my moods, mostly bitchy.

2. Loving me even though I snore WAY louder than you do. And, BONUS, not suffocating me while I sleep in an attempt to have one night of peaceful slumber.

3. Farting. I have lots of gas. Damn these bowels.

4. Being polite to certain members of my family when you would rather punch them.

5. Loving me in spite of my crazy habits: obsessive cleaning, organizing, and making sure the doors are locked like 10x before I go to bed. And even getting up and checking for me when I am too tired to do it but can’t fall asleep until I KNOW FOR SURE .

6. Always saying I am worth everything and proving it everyday.

7. Never once make me feel like a lesser person or unequal because we take traditional roles and I am the Woman.

8. Loving me for who I am. Really, that should get you sainthood.

9. Brave enough to call me on something and brave enough to sit through the yelling and cursing I throw at you as I finally see you were spot on in your analysis.

10. Staying with me through the very hard times and being willing to stay with me through some more.
